Meditation - you would probably quickly turn it down if it is offered to you. After all, meditation seems to be a very difficult thing to perform. It is like doing nothing, but doing a lot. Also, most instructions on how to achieve the so-called inner peace seem to make sense and at the same time, do not seem to make sense as well. It is like a battle of thoughts.

If you feel this way, it is normal. Achieving the goal of meditation is not easy. Masters had to dedicate a lot of time to master its arts. However, it is hard to turn your head on its benefits - relaxation and better health. So to help you get started without the confusion, here are some of the simplest meditation techniques out there:

T Meditation

T Meditation or more commonly referred to as the 'TM technique' is probably one of the easiest meditation technique out there. It does not require a lot of things and it only takes 20 minutes to complete per session. Also, it is ideally done only twice a day and this makes the TM technique the choice of most modern people. This is because it is easy to integrate it to a busy lifestyle.

So what happens during the TM Technique? It is simply done by sitting comfortably on any couch and finding your center of gravity for optimum relaxation. You then close your eyes and allow yourself to achieve a heightened level of consciousness. The result is silence, peace, and the finding of innermost self. It is a good way of resetting your mind after a load of stress. Similarly, it is also a good way of readying your body for stresses that are expected to come.

Music Meditation

Sometimes, it is difficult to achieve inner peace and a deeper level of self-awareness simply because of the presence of too much noise in the mind. For example, meditation might be a lot more difficult for a busy executive with a lot of financial-related problems to face and lawsuits to settle in court. Trying to achieve inner peace will be difficult because such negative thoughts can keep on bothering the mind.

The purpose of music meditation is to cancel out the noise. This is done by covering mental noises with music. But it is not just any music. Ideally, music used for meditation should be relaxing and subtle. Normally, traditional musical instruments with a natural relaxing sound such as bamboo flutes are used. Also, natural music such as the chirping of birds and the sound of flowing water are often integrated into the music.

Aroma Therapy & Meditation

Another way of easily achieving inner peace and heightened consciousness is through the stimulation of the senses, in this case, the sense of smell. Several relaxing aromas from natural concoctions are used. Scented candles are among the most popular.

The best thing about meditation with aroma therapy is that you can seek to achieve different kinds of moods. For instance, there are scents that encourage clear thought, scents that encourage sensuality, and scents that encourage energy.

Yoga & Meditation

Staying still, either by lying down, squatting, or sitting, is the most commonly perceived position for meditation. However, this is not always the case. In some instances, meditation can be achieved through the execution of body movements. Yoga is one good example. However, such movements are mostly slow, gentle, and minimal in nature.

While other meditation focus only on achieving a peaceful state of mind, meditation with yoga seeks to achieve balance and harmony between mind and body. As such, it is also believed to be therapeutic in nature.
